Gift article. My niece Megan is a Methodist pastor with a trans son and she will be thrilled. She has fought to have an affirming congregation. This happened by letting "conservative" congregations legally secede & keep their buildings. "United Methodist Church reverses ban on Gay Clergy", NY Times.

Sadly the Methodist had a schism... my mother is one of those who left the UMC and she doesnt have a clue that it is mainly because of the LGBT+ . So clueless, but I can't tell her boo on this... even tho she has a trans great granddaughter :(

I know. But I think by allowing folks to leave, despite losing millions of $$$ and parishioners, the denomination let it happen for a good reason. My mom was always pissed that the Presbyterian desire for “unity” let the hateful Southern church back in, which had left over slavery, now anti-LGBT.

My local church came to an “amicable separation” of money rather than a destructive vote. All the pastors wanted to leave and form a new conservative church. Fare thee well.
Our church retained the property and is leaner and more invigorated. We formed a Reconcilling Ministries Community 🏳️‍🌈

Perhaps so... I just look at these people I know (I left the church several years ago) who believe the lies they've been told about why they left the UMC. Nothing good will come from lies, I think.
