I've lived in the country for most of my life.I've never had a dog chase livestock, kill chickens, tangle with a skunk, porcupine or threatened children. Because had this thing called a "fence". My dogs stayed home & came inside during the night. Most people know enough not to let their dogs roam.

She is gaslighting. The "people" that the dog snapped at, according to her book, was HER, when she attempted to stop the dog from killing the chickens. And that's HER version, so I doubt it is true.

My impression, knowing "hunters" like her, is that what really happened is that she lost control of the dog, which embarrassed her in front of hunter friends, and THAT'S why she shot the dog.

I grew up with family just like this. All their dogs get killed for normal dog behavior, if they don't get hit by a car or train first. Then they crack each other up telling the stories.
