Research finds a better battery. This is great news on several levels. No lithium, for starters!

Solves safety problems …

But will it come to market with all the industries and investors heavily committed to lithium based batteries?

(Economic impact corners in established or associated industries )

If the people who market it can manage to get people to understand that it costs less per KWh over the lifecycle of the unit (including the risk costs and despite the larger footprint), it will absolutely take fixed-storage applications away from the Lithium hegemony. Little Lithium is no Big Oil.

Good question. My first reaction is that the demand for more, better, cheaper batteries for AI, Cloud, BTC mining, solar, wind, etc. will make this work. Also the geopolitical issues involved in the sourcing of lithium are eliminated by this tech. We will see.

Great movie reference!

I believe if manufacturers buy into safety and cheaper option then maybe
Depends how long supply contracts are
How many manufacturers are also invested in lithium
And if inventor keeps control of replacement product: buy and kill new technology is a thing
