I use a lot of fresh ginger, but not consistently.

Had a thought as to how to avoid waste. Each indentation in this small tray measures 1 teaspoon. I just peeled and grated.

You can also just freeze the roots whole, then grate them from frozen with a microplane/zester. This looks convenient though.

True, but I have 2 trays specifically for this purpose (I have separate ice trays).
For the moment, it can live in the trays. Neater that way.
