Because blaming the poor for their circumstances is easier than thinking about redistributing the wealth from the grasping clutches of the obscenely wealthy.

Same reasoning that causes people to blame immigrants for "stealing jobs" instead of blaming the greedy bosses who exploit them.

No one should ever question how welfare or other governments assistance is spent by the recipient. If someone wants to eat a fucking lobster every once in a while, who fucking cares! Why are "poor" people supposed to suffer all the time in the minds of the privileged?
