Starting a conversation.
So, I wonder sometimes if everyone is aware of the fact that everything in the different African countries is not what the media tells us. And that the Western fixes that are being forced on us won't work neither will economic suggestions.
We need solutions for our own

Communities that take our history and experiences into consideration.
I hear ( even from our African brothers and sisters) complaints about our standing with China and Russia and doing business with them.
I encourage you to look at who helped us get independent. That put aside who is willing

To trade with us? Who is actively having conversations with us? We don't like Russia or China but they want to trade without crazy hidden motives. Look at France (the French are absolutely disgusting in their interactions with former colonies)
Another thing because our society is intrinsically

Different from the Western world but more aligned with the textbook iterations of communism (I am because we are) and socialism (most African traditional behaviours are socialist in nature). But we can't have that conversation because International leaders ruined those labels and we need to discuss

What we can call them, rebrand without the dictatorship.
And remember we have dictators because we had monarchies and this idea of changing leadership daily is disconcerting. We need to discuss how to make it work, so that people have their QE2 and a functional system of government.
But. . 🤷🏾‍♀️

I read the Continent, but it gives only a surface summary of events in various countries.
So many post colonial problems seem very complicated, maybe intractable.
I agree that we need a new term for communism in this context.
What about “communitarian”?

I like it because isms are hard to swallow.

Maybe several generations need to die before real change on a semblance of equal footing can happen. Of course it will never be 100%, but at people should try to respect each other

I've spent two weeks in Africa in my life, so I hesitate to offer an opinion, but I think Madeleine is on to something. What I saw when I was there was people living in community. It happens in America, too, but it feels like a smaller percentage of people are on board here.
