I hate to say this, but do not count on grocery prices to ever "go back to normal". Some of the more inflated items may come back down (some), but don't expect that the day is coming when food prices are going to shrink across the board.

That's all fine, but now do groceries.

The new prices do reflect a new reality. Some of it represents the accuracy of bringing the product to the consumer. That will be higher than the past. But as has been noted, much more is just opportunistic and coordinated.

Oh true. But I don't see shrinkflation reversing itself. A couple companies may have the good sense to give a big splash with "back to the original size!" marketing campaigns. But not many. And the rest will just sit on the profits and squeeze their workforce.

I agree. The expectation of ever increasing profits is held as gospel by our economic system. The Biden/Harris administration is the first, at least to me, that is finally pushing back. It'll take steady progress in every 2 years election cycle going forward to reverse the mindset.
