Someone hasn't learned the lesson of how journalists fare in fascism.

At some point, all the sucking up in the world isn't enough.

And if that isn't partisan, I don't know what is.

New York Times editor Joe Kahn says defending democracy is a partisan act and he won’t do it

"He had an extraordinary opportunity, upon taking over from Dean Baquet, to right the ship: to recognize that the Times was not warning sufficiently of the threat to democracy"

I think he is misguided, but also he is factually correct. Defending democracy is now a partisan thing because only party is trying to do it. Republicans are actively trying to destroy it

If they succeed, the New York Times will be destroyed, so maybe they need to rethink

It's a circular argument. It's "technically a partisan thing" because editors, who have full control of how messages are related, have made it so.

It's interesting your reflex was to defend him and normalize his statement.

Kahn is asking the wrong question, though. "Is it true?" and "Is it fair?" are the right questions. If the press was focused on those, we wouldn't be expecting people to show up for work with a sweeping agenda like "save democracy." Bothsidesing got us here.
