I have neighbors who are Haitian. We have talked a bit about the recent events and crisis. They are of the mindset that Haiti at this point, after so many half-hearted external interventions, will need to drive the solution itself. They do think Jimmy Chérizier will form the new government.

And I truly hope that THIS time, it works out. Having the solution come internally is the only real chance for good, lasting change to stick.

There are more dead bodies on that road as well. But that just seems to be an accepted sunk cost in so many places in our changing world nowadays. I never want that to turn me into something I shouldn't be.
