In the "THIS Is Creepy" Dept:
The Hubster just returned home w/groceries. We have a wheelchair ramp, so he uses a garden cart (from Mother's Day 20yrs ago) to help haul the groceries into the house.
I mention "The cart has a bad wheel"...
20 mins later, I return to Spoutible. THIS ad is on my feed:

The mike on one of your phones. You have given permission to use the mike to an app. The app monitors the mike 24/7. Keywords, probably extracted by #AI are sold to data brokers. The market for online ads is particularly quick. You can experiment, mention odd things, measure turn times.

Thanks for that! I try to be really cautious about this kind of thing. We will NEVER own a home speaker, I don't operate SM, bank, or use apps on my phone, and I never use voice-to-text or any other mic on my phone. My desktop computer (w/external mic) is far from where I spoke yesterday. Very odd!

I play with this all the time. Mowers and Snowblowers are particularly aggressive. Put your phones on the table, then have a conversation with your spouse and discuss buying a new Snowblower. Ads within 60 minutes on your account feeds.

You've convinced me. I'm shutting off my cell phone between uses. 😁
