I feel like I have found a whole community of like minded people on Spoutible, mostly in the US but also around the globe. Would be good to get more people from #australia here and make it the antipodean social media of choice.

You guys are the antipodeans! It just means the other side of the earth. Since most of the population is in the northern hemisphere, “antipodean” has often been understood to mean the southern hemisphere. But that is not strictly correct.

Help us fix this bias!!!

I studied in Australia and am living in France. Does that count? 😉I understand though, I am loving that more international accounts are showing up daily. This is the only sm site that does not depress me even though extremely difficult and important topics are still discussed.

It absolutely counts Alex!
I agree with you. The level of conversation here is a cut above that on other sites, while still allowing for outrage at some of the horrors of the world.

And I'm just excited that I now know what 'antipodean' means. The dictionary app on my phone wins again.

Ha! It is a controversial term in that it assumes that the northern hemisphere is ‘up’ and the southern hemisphere is ‘down’. It ain’t necessarily so…
