This is a wild and fascinating story about a writer who got lost in his own delusions. I kept thinking how stressful and lonely it must've been to keep the lies going for so many years.

Its clear no one spoke to a native Spanish speaker, an ESL instructor or a bilingual Spanish - english speaker.
Losing, the /s/ is unvoiced, loosing, the /s/ is voiced.

I taught ESL to adults for 20 yrs, 8 in a prison. This isn't a mistake spanish speaking learners make.

There were a lot of red flags! When he'd get into situations in which he was expected to speak Spanish fluently, for example, he'd opt out by claiming to have a migraine.

Sounds like my husband's dad. Some people just like to lie.

That's quite the story. I was exhausted by the end.

It made me so anxious. Like, he couldn't even be himself in his own home!

I was exhausted too. So much so, the story is still open on my browser & I don’t think I actually finished it.
