The GI Bill was one of the things post-WWII that created a strong American middle class. It was also not applied equitably with Black soldiers being denied the same opportunities. And still today: 1/2

I consider myself lucky that I served before the drive to privatization and making it harder to get benefits started back in the 90s. It doesn't help when you have Veterans vote against their own interest because of ignorance they fall for the bamboozelment and vote MAGA/GQP

For decades, there have been "arguments" by white conservatives about how their fathers/grandfathers came back from WWII and used the GI Bill to better themselves and why couldn't Black soldiers do the same. Well: 2/2

This is a great article. Thanks for sharing. I don’t understand why folks still don’t believe systemic racism is a “thing”.

Whew! You have to wonder if Blacks in this country will ever be “made whole”. The amount of disenfranchisement is incalculable.

Yet, we’re still here to fight another day.
