I love listening to Benny Goodman (& others of that genre) when I'm at home. I pretend it's the 1940's and the world was a saner, more peaceful place. Also loved the reminder about "Dave's Not Here.." reference; the 60's were a great time.

Swing was the rock 'n roll of the '30s and '40s and the clarinet was the electric guitar. Benny and Artie Shaw are my 2 favorites. I really wish Judy Garland had sung more swing songs.

In the early career of Amy Winehouse, she used to sing a mean jazz song. I wish I had learned to dance swing and jitterbug, it looks so fun.

That is how I feel when I watch old movies. It seems like everyone back then just fell out of bed knowing how to swing dance.
I mean the regular actors not just the featured dancers (I don't kid myself about singing - no matter what the genre I have no abilities).
