Question: machine guns were banned in the 1930s. High capacity, rapid fire guns meant to kill as many as possible in as short a time as possible. What is the difference between them and the modern AR or AK? Nothing, as far as I can see. Lawmakers: get on this

The main mechanical difference is that the automatics keep firing as long as you just pull the trigger and hold whereas the semi's require a trigger pull for each round. But the trigger pulls are now so short and sensitive that anyone with any experience can fire off many many rounds/minute

The correct answer, found with just a few seconds’ research is: Nothing. In fact, these weapons are categorized as machine guns.
