We just got green waste bins from my council. I was happy so just chatting I asked some local church ladies -doing a community event thingy - if they’d used theirs: they scoffed ‘sorting is too difficult’. I said ‘ ..but it’s easy, keep 3 bins in the kitchen? .’ They wouldn’t speak to me again.

It is shocking how many simply refuse such a simple effort. I been adding my compost, mostly coffee grounds and egg shells to a communal pile at our public park believing it to be good for our difficult, depleted soil.

It is good .. I add mine to the garden and I have been baking and crushing the eggshell for mixing into my soil. The rabbits poops and used hay makes for some extraordinary compost too

Why bake and crush egg shells?

My mom would just add some to the watering can for houseplants.

Good question. Someone told me I had to ages ago but -now I think about it - I think that’s probably just needed if you want to store the shells longer term as a dry powder. I’m gonna stop bothering.
