My #shochu of the day is Hina Musume, a sweet potato shochu from Tomita Honten in Nichinan, Miyazaki Prefecture. 25% ABV and paired with motsunabe, I opted to drink it oyuwari (cut w/ hot water) to coax out the sweeter notes. It complemented the spicy miso motsunabe base perfectly. Kanpai!

I’ve never been to Okinawa, and I know just a little bit about Shochu in general but… I did manage to get two bottles of Mori Izo on inflight sales last summer. Enjoy your time there!
