You know what’s really messed up? When you have to remind a man, “What if she was your daughter or sister” before they’re capable of viewing a woman as something other than an object. 🤬

The root problem could be evolution. If men saw all the women as sisters and mothers first, they would be less inclined to produce offspring.

The same goes with women. We all evaluate everyone instinctively as a potential breeding partner.

Which isn't an excuse of course. Just pondering.

Enlightenment begins with confessing that we are all just a bunch of simians. Only then can we try to rise above that.

“We all evaluate everyone instinctively as potential breeding partners “ really?!
Women over 40 certainly don’t and I certainly didn’t evaluate any male on that criteria.

My kid sent me a tiktok of a guy stating that a woman is safer in a room alone w/a trained bear than a man.

Men: but the bear is trained.

I guess men aren't getting enough training?? Wtaf?

The guy who made the TikTok vid is not wrong.

I once overheard a guy friend of mine tell another guy friend, "Just go onto the dating sites and find a few one night stands." I reamed him for it! Do men really treat women like we are nothing more than their toilet? 🤬

It shouldn't have to happen to you, for it to matter to you.
The capacity for empathy is in short supply.

This country has a high tolerance for women’s pain and suffering. They’re way too comfortable with our discomfort and our constant uphill battle. We never reached equal standing and now we’ve been pummeled backwards 5 decades, and counting….misogyny is far too many men’s default setting.

Sometimes, but not often enough. You can’t force someone to feel empathy.

Less of a problem for me...women tend to be closer to my definition of human (or at least humane) than most guys I've had the displeasure of knowing.

This is my experience also. Why is that? Why are so many men seemingly incapable of putting themselves in the shoes of another person and empathizing with their experience?

True empathy is rare. Many people can’t relate to the plight of others unless they can visualize themselves being in a situation. LGBTQ, BIPOC, refugees all face this lack empathy every day.

This is all too true and I don’t understand why it’s so hard. I’ve always been capable of experiencing empathy. Is it the way people were raised? Are their brains wired differently?
