As a kid the family moved right after the school year ended. New town and know no one. Spent most mornings that summer in the local library with my freshly minted library card.

The library was a magical place… hushed tones… walking the aisles… on a treasure hunt. And if the librarian took a shine to you they would say… I really think you’re gonna like this one…

Now their book knowledge is a hazard to their health and recommendations are perilous.

What if? We each write a letter to a local city counsel telling of a memory/ experience of why this library was so impactful to you. Letters are gold for any educational funding requests. It speaks loudly in an old fashioned type way. Counsels hear your words echoing among their constituents.

I think that is a great idea. I am in NYC and our libraries are well funded. But I am happy to write to other areas.
