As a kid the family moved right after the school year ended. New town and know no one. Spent most mornings that summer in the local library with my freshly minted library card.

The library was a magical place… hushed tones… walking the aisles… on a treasure hunt. And if the librarian took a shine to you they would say… I really think you’re gonna like this one…

Now their book knowledge is a hazard to their health and recommendations are perilous.

Unknown to me at the time that summer did a lot to prepare me for a variety of university classes. Read so many of classics.

As a former Lit major…. I applaud this. Which book from this period of time has stuck with you until this day.

I remember that summer's reading list well. Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, Last of the Mohicans, Gulliver's Travels, Utopia, Robinson Crusoe, Fahrenheit 451, Treasure Island, Horatio Hornblowers, a bunch of sci fi and then I discovered this guy named Vonnegut, hair blown back! Answer: Cat's Cradle...ice 9.
