Everyone recovered? Can I do a #SpoutibleBannedBookClub poll? It's time for book suggestions for May 2023, but since Handmaid's Tale was the 1st runner up twice, let me know if we should read it or something else (comment with other suggestions). I'll need ECHOES please (sorry for shouting). #SBBC

I second CASTE, if not this time, soon. It is incredibly important.

I've got Caste by Isabel Wilkerson on my to-read list.

I chose Handmaids Take for May. I’d like to offer a suggestion of Killers of The Flower Moon by David Grann for future discussion.

Handmaid’s Tale traumatized me when I read it. Of course, that was during Reagan’s reign.

If we read it, I would like to get more men to join in reading and discuss parallels to where we're at now and how they can help women retain our rights as full citizens.

I haven't read this yet myself, but how about "Melissa" (Formerly published as George - and the whole decision process around that is a cool discussion in its own right) by Alex Gino?

That was the most challenged book in 2020. I'll look into it, thank you!

It looks like it's classified as a children's book. I'd like to include an LGBTQIA+ book and am thinking All Boys Aren't Blue unless I get another suggestion. Gender Queer would be good, but it's a graphic novel and I'd rather not do two in a row.

I'd love to get in on this book club. Is there any way to sign up and get notifications?

No notifications, sorry. There's not that functionality here now. My profile page is the home of the book club, and there will always be a pinned spout at the top with the latest update. If you follow me, updates will get in your timeline. Or check hashtag #SpoutibleBannedBookClub for updates.

But just saying you're in, is signing up! It's informal :)
