My teens watching sitcoms with me take away all enjoyment from the sitcoms. Jokes aren't funny to them, because they recognize how most of the sitcom jokes are based on insulting various people. And on people getting into bad situations, and they feel for the characters.

These kind of assignments can be challenging for my autistic teens. Louder volume for ads needs to be adjusted. Questions like "is this ad effective?" irritates them because there is no correct answer. Watching a sitcom for the commercials is also painful, since they object to sitcom humor.

So they are being asked to analyze the commercials, but they struggle because the phrasing of the questions has no meaning to them. But, they can see every implication in the show itself.
In response to ChristyK.
