Boy, I sure don't want to defend Musk, but let me defend the SpaceX team.

This was the first launch of their integrated starship + heavy booster; the most powerful rocket to ever launch and the first time they ever fired all 33 (yes 33) engines. They knew it wasn't going to go well.

They already didn't plan to land either craft. The goal was to clear the launch pad and get to separation. They did the first, but not the second. They've worked for this for 2 years, so allow them to celebrate the milestone. Don't let Musk's stench ruin it for them.

Is there a plan to salvage any of the debris? At what point is it irresponsible to be essentially littering the ocean? At what point are we going to ask, globally, for agreed upon limits? I’m for space exploration but I am concerned about the likes of Musk crossing lines that are harmful…
