The SpaceX Starship exploded, and people cheered as if they meant to do that. These people are bizarre.

I suspect it's a feature. Look at what's happening with the platform formerly known as Twitter.

This dipshit is not getting us to Mars. And that's a good thing. He just wants to own his own planet that he can run into the ground like he did Twitter.

From the SpaceX Team perspective, getting the largest rocket ever built on the fueled, 33 engines ignited, clearing the pad, through MaxQ, etc is the result of years of work. Rockets are HARD.

Test rockets ROUTINELY blow up on the pad. This one did not.

They have a lot of reasons to be happy.

Boy, I sure don't want to defend Musk, but let me defend the SpaceX team.

This was the first launch of their integrated starship + heavy booster; the most powerful rocket to ever launch and the first time they ever fired all 33 (yes 33) engines. They knew it wasn't going to go well.

They already didn't plan to land either craft. The goal was to clear the launch pad and get to separation. They did the first, but not the second. They've worked for this for 2 years, so allow them to celebrate the milestone. Don't let Musk's stench ruin it for them.

Knowing what I know about launching a spaceship, they probably detonated it remotely so it wouldn’t make too much of an impact when it crashed. Guess he still had some money to spare.

I don’t trust any company Elon is associated with. For all I know, the rocket only cost $5million and the rest of the $3b went to his other projects.

Rocket engineers are kinda used to it. Controlled explosions don't always stay controlled, so you enjoy the fireworks display.

It's quite possible they didn't yet realize what had happened. Many who witnessed the Challenger explosion in 1986 thought at first it was celebratory fireworks. And when everyone *else* is cheering, it's easy to go along with the crowd because you think you missed something.
