Still not a word from John Roberts about Clarence Thomas—Roberts the Chief Justice who has previously proclaimed he cares about the Supreme Court’s reputation.

Jane Roberts the wife of SCOTUS chief Justice John Roberts as “legal recruiter”, made $10 million aligning job-hunting lawyers up with corporations and firms.

I don’t think Roberts is afraid of Thomas.

I think Roberts is afraid of the people funding Thomas.

I remember years of hearing from “experts” that, “Oh no, John Roberts would NEVER allow x, y, or z because he’s really invested in his court’s legacy.”
Well…that didn’t quite pan out, did it?

I guess CJ Roberts knows that when folks talk about the “Roberts Court,” what they’ll be referencing is the most corrupt court in history. Unfortunately, that means Justices Kagan, Sotomayor, and Brown, despite their best efforts, cannot save it.

Roberts had to have known about the relationship between Thomas and Harlan Crow for several years. Even if he says something now, it’s far too late. Alito and Thomas, along with Thomas’ wife, have damaged the public’s view and the public’s confidence in the (un)Supreme Court.

He is just hoping if he ignores things long enough the next scandal will push this to the back of our minds.

How does one respond? He's responding like someone along w others on the SCOTUS who may also have serious ethics challenges & are stonewalling while they try to figure out cover.

John Roberts is the
Kevin McCarthy of the SCOTUS:

Both weak-ass men
in leadership positions
despite having no
leadership qualities.

This makes them vulnerable
to corruption, and we see this
playing out every day.

Is there reason to believe Roberts cares about the reputation of the Court, except that he keeps telling us he does?

Because modern conservatism thrives on destroying faith in the institutions of civil society, and he's part of that movement.
