Eliminating the status associated with validation is one thing. But if #Twitter is assigning check marks to deceased account-holders merely to promote the pay tier...what a display of poor taste, and desperation.

Certainly possible that actively managed accounts of deceased people have paid for the checkmark. It says a lot that it's ALSO possible that's not the case.

Given the number of living people denouncing the blue checks being forced on them when they haven't paid, my money is on the deceased famous also being used as promotional fodder.
