I just looked at the last Covid-19 28-day stats collected by Johns Hopkins through March. At that pace, probably no longer the 3rd leading cause of death in the US but at a pace of killing 129,000 people a year, just in case you thought it didn't matter.

Where can we find anyone with grief or moral concern about COVID deaths now? We lost more than a million human beings and barely shrugged, just "masks and inconveniencing our students" moaning.

Historians may mark this as a pivot point: death in the US ceased to matter. Anything is possible then.
