Why is it that my own eyes and a camera lens seem to really differ in what they see?

I was taking a mirror selfie. The image of myself I saw in the mirror and the picture I took of my mirror image didn't fully match. Viewing the photo, I asked myself, "Do I REALLY look like this?!"

Weird. 🙂

There's a reason for it. When people see you, they're seeing an opposite of themselves. When you look in the mirror you're seeing straight across. For instance, my left eye is more slanted than my right. In a mirror, it's MY left but to someone else, it's THEIR left.
