#SpoutibleGardens I was about to cut down a dead hydrangea, when I saw a #prayingmantis mantis pod on a branch. Any idea how warm it must be for those guys to hatch? Southeastern PA.

The internet says: Hatching requires continuous warm weather (75-80F) for 10 to 15 days at a time, with a high of 50% to 75% humidity. Once the egg sack begins to hatch, it can be completed in a matter of hours.

Thanks for this info. Also, I have strong memories of the year my brother brought (what he thought was) an empty PM nest into the house in midwinter and put it in a vase on my mother's fireplace mantle. LoL
