Reading Tim Wu's book "The Attention Merchant." Wu is a policy advocate and professor at Columbia Law School. In his book, Wu quotes Hitler from "Mein Kampf" when Hitler asks, "To whom has propaganda to appeal? . . .It has to appeal forever and only to the masses."

Hitler uses education level to define those who belong to the masses. He ignores the "intelligentsia in his targeting. Public education is important, but after that where are the masses being educated, where do they get their continuing information? From commercial media, some good, others not?

Perhaps educators (and I was one) need to spend more time on critical thinking and good argumentation/logical fallacies as a continuing part of public schooling. We seem to be awash in disinformation and propaganda at this moment in time, and it may take some time and effort to dig our way out.
