So many jobs require background checks, why not CONGRESS? Shouldn’t you need to pass some kind of security clearance before being handed a stack of classified documents or attending classified briefing?

Agreed. Tbh though someone or a group of someone's who are tracking?? where these documents go need to start ensuring they are returned prior to them leaving office. Every single document.

Members of Congress are not required to have security clearances---
Recently, Executive Branch,through E.O. 12333 has chosen to amend dissemination of information to those with "need-to- know;'
That means tho, that it can be disclosed to:House Leadership,House Leadership staff;Committee Staff;
