Does anyone else find it strange that the English language has a word for throwing someone out a window?

If I’m not mistaken and if we are talking about the same word, the French may get credit for it with the root being the French word for window. Put “de” in front of it and you get “from the window”. I am vaguely remembering from HS French class…medieval capital punishment?

Makes sense! I was just thinking, I've never in my life actually seen someone get thrown out of a window in real life.
