Because deep down for a lot of people, they just want to walk blindly through. They want to coast on privilege or race and not have to make tough decisions or risk losing their space in the community. MLK wouldn't have spoken of the white moderate problem if there weren't so damn many of them.

Because most white people are not going risk alienating friends and family over anti-Black racism, no matter how they personally feel.

Exactly. They can't risk comforts. They have a support system there, mostly financial, and they can't shake that tree. So they tell themselves that their allyship is enough and no one would expect them to not love their family even if they don't always agree.

Exactly. Don't rock the boat, don't ruin thanksgiving. These people have nothing they won't ruin thanksgiving over, and I think everyone SHOULD. Lines in the sand mean nothing if people gonna redraw them so as to never actually have to cross them. They need to grow a damn backbone and some morality!

"They don't want to risk losing their space in the community". Truth. Many 'allys' want to do just enough to receive kudos from marginalized communities without losing friends. This is why they'll sit at Thanksgiving dinner every year and listen to their families' racism without pushback.

The cognitive dissonance is frighteningly amazing to see.

Oh yeah, I don't trust a "progressive" as far as I can spit. They're chaos agents, obstructionists. They claim they want better but they block almost any progress and then say, "see, these centrists are getting us nowhere."
