My mother didn't believe in banning books. To her, there were the books I could understand, and the books I couldn't, and I'd never figure it out unless I *read* them.

Yep. Reminds me of the story of how Billy Joel's "Only the Good Die Young" wasn't doing particularly well on the charts until the Archdiocese of St. Louis and Boston banned it, resulting in an immediate ascent up the charts. 😅

Exactly. I read “Jaws” when I was 11/12. Fairly violent and a sex scene that didn’t make it into the movie. The only effect it had on me was keeping me out of the ocean for a few years.
