Here's a clip of Bob James (American Jazz keyboardist) doing a remake of his hitsong Angela. It was for the sitcom Taxi (Judd Hirsch, Tony Danza).

That's a beautiful version. My introduction to Bob James was Double Vision, his collaboration with David Sanborn. I wore that album out. 😄

Agree 💯 It's such a different tempo from the original, very mellow! The Bob James album I remember is Lucky Seven (yellow album cover with the beetle) with the hit song Rush Hour:

That reminds me, I need get the album back to my phone!

That goes even further back. I haven't listened to much of his music. I was more interested in guitar in those days, but I see he has a couple of albums with Earl Klugh that might be fun. I may be going down a rabbit hole. 😆

Earl Klugh? Now you're talking... my first album would be Heart String, but my fave is Living Inside Your Love.

I think I saw his concert in the 🇵🇭 (we are huge fans of jazz and other music, like Al Jarreau, who I saw too!).

Wow, I'm happy that you're familiar with Earl Klugh, but also remind me not to play any jazz trivia with you!

Al Jarreau. I knew his name, but I think the first time I heard him sing was on the Bob James/David Sanborn album. What a voice! (Since I fell for you).

🙏 for the compliment! My knowledge is a bit skewed towards what was popular in 🇵🇭, like Lee Ritenour, The Rippingtons, among others.

Al Jarreau's voice is special, my favorite album is Breaking Away, although I also have one his compilation albums that has that song. 👍

Sounds like the Philippines were a rich environment to grow up in musically.

I was pretty sure I had followed you, but Spoutible said I wasn't, so I (re-)followed. This site has been glitchy the past few days, but I know they're working on some things. 🤷

No worries on the follow, on the bird site, I had 8 followers (was mainly reading) so all this is new. I'm pretty sure I only consume a fraction of the content, I think I followed you when I was talking to @JessMartin about wine. Now we are discussing Smooth Jazz (thanks Spoutible!).
