They will claim they can’t afford to fix their mistake, but in 2022 “Income from railway operations was $4.8 billion, up 8%, or $362 million, yearover-year, an annual record. Diluted earnings per share were $13.88, up 15%, or $1.77 compared with 2021”

The media hasn't reported on any homes destroyed. The lawsuit filed by residents is for health monitoring and undetermined damages. Hard to figure what that would total so soon after the wreck. Residents would be wise to hold off on settlement.
