Exactly this.

As a kid, I routinely vanished in just my own neighborhood for hours on end - no way to find or contact me. At all.

Today, I could be at the very bottom of the Mariana Trench and I’d still get one of those, “your auto warranty is about to expire” robocalls.

Can you imagine telling the “can’t function without an APP people” that they have to live without a Smart Phone… Oh wait… w/out a cellphone… Oh wait… w/out internet… Oh wait w/out call waiting/answering machine..etc..

AND yet still communicate?

Welcome to the first 1/2 of a #GenX Life.

Dear Jeff,

Why are you on the bottom of the Mariana Trench?

Are you looking for something or just lurking?

Why are you answering your phone while you’re there? Waiting on an important call?

It’s never good to hang out in dark, sketchy locations. I’m watching you. 👀

Love,
April 💛

Mom and dad knew all our friends, their addresses, and phone #'s. In an emergency they could find us.

Oh yeah. Out in the neighborhood until my Dad whistled for dinnertime, and back out again until the streetlights went on. Not a care in the world.
