Can anyone explain how is it a felon is prohibited from voting, yet that same felon can still be President of our country.

Can run for office but can't vote for themselves is peak American Political "logic".

I know it's a combo of not foreseeing this kind of thing when originally drafted & the racist reasons behind the felon non-vote rule... but it's also classic political non-logic.

Felons were prohibited from voting because Black people are disproportionately charged and convicted of felonies. It never occurred to racist white ppl that anyone would elect a Black person to be president. Until Obama.
Look what's happened to them since. It broke their racist little brains.

I think it’s supposed to prevent political persecution, but

IMO, any politician who has a felony conviction on their record should be banned from running for election/re-election to *any* political office - local, state or federal.

Let's bring a level of integrity back to politics.

Now would be the opportune time to raise this issue with state legislators

Agreed. I also think a sitting president should be able to be indicted.
