The growing mainstream media hysteria to pardon Trump to "heal the country" is so dumb. To heal the country the the virus must be cured with long prison sentences, for Trump & all of his GOP co-conspirators. Then we can heal...

Where is my media support for wanting the law to be enforced consistently as outlined in the Constitution.

This is yet another example, where specific demographics of the population think the laws do not apply to them.

As far as I can see, that would only be 1 step towards “healing the country”, the US needs to recognize, and stand up to, the endemic racism that is deep rooted in it, it needs to overcome it because you are a country built on immigration, the blend of nationalities is the fabric of the US.

It’s noticeable that those who are protesting most about Trump’s indictments are those who seem to be most implicated somewhere along the line in the plot to overthrow the election. They threw in their lot with a would be dictator, and must face the consequences along with him.

Any capitulation to the “let’s pardon Trump” brigade will truly be the beginning of the end for democracy in the US. Punishment that fits the crimes for all those involved in January 6, the removal and hiding of classified documents, the attempt to overturn the election has to be seen.

They also appear to have amnesia for their hysteria when President Obama did not prosecute Bush or Cheney for crimes tied to 9/11.

Short memories and forked tongues.

They haven't noticed what happened after Nixon was pardoned? Or does their attention span permit anything to enter other than what they would prefer to hear?

I have only seen Thiessen at WaPo - a notorious right-winger - suggest this. Who else in MSM has put this forward?

Advocating for a Trump pardon is the legal equivalent to telling people not to wear a mask against COVID (and brought to you by the same PR firm). And if Trump is pardoned, it's hard to imagine what a future president could do that wouldn't warrant a pardon. Ford shouldn't have pardoned Nixon.

Agreed. But even if Trump is removed to a deep and dark dungeon, his followers will attach themselves to another figurehead. Frightening era for America.

As mentioned, Gerry Ford's presidency got torpedoed when he flat out pardoned Nixon. Had things been allowed to play out, and if Ford didn't pardon him, he'd won over Jimmy Carter. However, since he didn't do so, Carter got his one (and only) term.

But Carter has turned out to be one of the most revered one term presidents, because he’s a true decent humanitarian.

Pardoning Trump will only encourage this type of behavior by future presidents. We need to see Trump and his cowardly ilk get serious, like life, prison sentences to heal the country and to dissuade similar behavior in the future. If Nixon wasn't pardoned, we might never have had someone this evil.

That's because the billionaires who own all of the big media outlets only promote right wing talking points.

When Ford pardoned Nixon “to heal the country”, we were bamboozled. It would have been better to save the Nixon pardon until after he was indicted, convicted and asked for it.

Then...maybe.

Anyone knows that you don’t give in to a misbehaving toddler. And that’s Trump. Lock him up. We should have done so with Nixon or we wouldn’t be here.
