There is most certainly a correlation between SUVs and increased road fatalities.

Over 8,000 pedestrians were killed on US roadways in 2022. Jimmy Carter was president the last time that happened. This upwards trend in deaths is because we are building massive vehicles with terrible sight lines.

Absolutely. The higher the weight the more damage a vehicle does to both the road and the environment so it needs to pay it's "fair share".
