This is true (see title) only after the sats reach final operating orbit. Last night I saw one brighter than Deneb, the 19th brightest star in the sky. (#Starlink 5340 launched in May.)

The eventual decrease in brightness will however not be due to increasing it's altitude, but from changing its attitude, that is, its orientation.
