#DailyPictureTheme Burying a terra cotta olla (2 gallon) in my garden bed to provide #Underground irrigation for my tomato plants. 7 weeks later, they thrive! First season growing vegetables and it’s true what they say — #gardening is making the best soil to feed and sustain your plants.

You’re welcome. It’s been great. Moisture seeps from inside olla to soil and rather than watering every X days, I fill them up when they’re half empty. (2-3 x/week) All the moisture is underground so plants are very happy and evaporation is not much.

It’s ancient agricultural technique.

Very cool and somewhat resembles "reverse mound" (I think it is called?) farming by the Akimel O'odham use here in #arizona
