ZOT! was Scott McCloud's first big work, running for 36 issues from 1984 to 1991. Solid from the start, with a lot of energy making up for occasional lapses early on, quickly getting better and brilliant by the end. Some great back-up features and letter pages, too.

YUMMY FUR by Chester Brown was initially a self-published mini-comic, then for 32 full sized issues from 1986 to 1994 the forum for Brown's work, serializing the "Ed the Happy Clown" absurdist fantasy, then moving to mostly autobiography and bible adaptations. Some great work

One of the second wave Milestone titles from Dwayne McDuffie, Denys Cowan and company, XOMBI was mostly done by John Rozum and J. J. Birch for 22 issues from 1994 to 1996. Strange book, not even close to always successful, but usually interesting.

WANDERING STAR was a science fiction story by Teri S. Wood that grew in the telling, from the planned 12 issues to 21, published from 1993 to 1997. A great story, with great characters and twists. A great hardcover reprint full of extras was published in 2016

VORTEX was an anthology published by Vortex for 15 issues from 1982 to 1988. Quite a few interesting creators show up, including Ken Steacy, Ty Templeton, Jaime Hernandez, Gilbert Hernandez, Dan Day, Gene Day, Bill Sienkiewicz and more

ROARIN' RICK'S RARE BIT FIENDS is Rick Veitch's long running comic of dream exploration, running for 21 issues from 1994 to 1996, then returning in in 2016 for a longer issue published every other year, four so far bringing it to #25 . Very vivid and intentionally strange comics

Scott Roberts did some 44 issues of PATTY CAKE (plus some collections) through various series and publishers from 1994 to 2005. Great little series about a young girl's view of the world, with a colourful cast of misfits in her neighbourhood and family.

DARK HORSE PRESENTS was an anthology that ran 157 issues (plus annuals and specials) from 1986 to 2000. Nice variety of stuff, some readily available in reprints (Concrete, Bacchus) but a lot of forgotten gems and engaging diversions show up randomly as well
