Just typed this: People not wearing masks in crowded public spaces are like children trying to run between the raindrops and hoping that they won't get wet.

Used Threads. Seems like a more cluttered Instagram with significantly more posts that I have zero interest in.

I still just go to Instagram.

Why Musk is so worried about scraping (because he wants Twitter content all to himself for AI development):

At one time I used Twitter for news, but that got ruined by all of the trolls.

Since Twitter died, I'm watching YouTube (ignoring comments) a lot more and great sources have popped up for Trump and Ukraine stuff (which is mostly what I'm after). Threaded "conversations" seem pretty useless now.

Ah, my Musk theory (he wants Twitter for AI development). He has been madly leaving Google. Guess what? Google is madly scraping for AI development ... that's who he is worried about scraping: his AI competitors.

My theory seems more likely to be right.

Now that the air is officially unhealthy (and worse tomorrow) I assume that we will soon hear the cries of "the people have to be able to go to the beach! What about their mental health?"

I have my finger on the pulse ...

Watched the Trump interview on Fox last night and my main conclusion is: Trump is completely insane. Not just "what a nutjob" ... he is incoherent, rambling, and not in touch with reality. As in, a person who should be receiving treatment.

This whole thing is going to be such a train-wreck.

There's this narrative about how Trump would be the first POTUS to be imprisoned. He would also be the first POTUS to refuse to settle and make the sensible steps (that were available) to avoid prison.

That distinction very much defines Trump.

There are now studies suggesting that the horrible driving we've been seeing may very well be connected to Covid brain damage. (reports of issues with brain function up 24% among 25 - 44
year olds).

Most of us noticed this at least a year or so ago. I didn't expect this to be a real thing.

One thing I look forward to with AI. There can be an infinite number of new Led Zeppelin releases.

People have already fed the catalog of artists to AI and had it generate new music. What I've heard is not bad sounding. Artists are going to realize what's happening too late.

More convinced than ever that Musk bought Twitter for AI development. Feed the massive collection of human communication that is Twitter to an AI ... that is a lot of raw material. You may have already been recreated somewhere in a super-computer.

So, disposing of solar panels is going to be an ecological disaster ... guess what comes after that? Disposing of mountains of batteries from electric cars. We aren't solving any problems, we just move from one unsustainable idea to the next.

The bad driving is getting worse. I don't assume that people will stop for red lights anymore. Had 3 cars go through after red yesterday and saw a u-turn across 4 lanes on a busy road.

Not claiming to know why but we have a disease infecting everyone and gov'ts saying "other people don't matter."

Important question: now that the fast-food drive-through has an option to tip on payment ... does that money go to the staff? I mean, it would be no effort to just send it right to fast-food-central. That's not why I tip.

None of these people opposing the rise in the debt ceiling is really in favour of default. You can't be. The gov't owes a huge amount to the people of the US in the form of bonds and such. (like, how they paid for WW2)

Supporting default is being in favour of the gov't failing to pay you back.

Just learned last night that when Hitler was made Chancellor (and then when Hindenburg died, he made himself supreme ruler), he had the support of 30% of the German population.

Sound familiar? After that, all he did was issue decrees and ensure that anyone who opposed him was eliminated.

Are people considering that Trump is likely planning how to regain power without winning an election?

I mean, that's what he was working on in 2020 ... I suspect that he finds elections really annoying.

Damn, now I have to check whether I still have conjunctivitis medication (I get it once in a while) since the new variant causes it so everyone is out of stock.

I HATE conjunctivitis. That feeling of having something stuck in your eye 24/7 for 10 days straight will drive you nuts.

The internet has created a world in which everyone is just a 7-year old jumping up and down saying "look at me, look at me." The people who do the dumbest things to get attention are the role models for all of the other 7-year olds.

The T-34 in that Russian parade is basically the same thing as an American parade with a WW2 Sherman in it (except Shermans weren't as good).

They aren't sending T-34s to Ukraine ... it's a symbol ...

I'm a little tired of the pics of a T-34 in the Russian parade the other day. It's the WW2 tank that won the largest tank battle in history and sent the Nazis back to Berlin. They don't wheel those out to scare anyone. It's a symbol of the Russian struggle and victory against Nazi Germany.

Mind you, fascists always send out plenty of warning. They tell you (they are now) that they plan to kill all of their opponents, but many people shrug it off. Then, the fascists get power and everyone is surprised when they do what they said they would. We are marching steadily in that direction.

Watched a German production of the Wansee conference. The language used is very familiar. In particular, the blaming of a group in society (for Nazis: Jews, for today: Liberals) and the fact that the group must "repay their debt for destroying culture".

Don't give them a chance to act on that.

I'm reading the book Babi Yar (the ravine outside Kiev where the Nazis shot more than 30,000 Ukrainian civilians in WW2.) Our world is at a state that is really not that far from the world in that book. It has never been so easy to imagine the events in the book happening to me.

Oh, and for anyone looking for "a guide" to watching the coronation: it's on freakin' YouTube. No need for a guide.

The SkyNews channel will have the entire thing.
