I’m proud of my students for courageously writing & sharing their memoirs. I discovered early that 1) most people can learn how to write a book if guided well; 2) most of my students write their memoirs first & foremost as a legacy-gift for their families. The impact on their readers is profound.

These are not fake flowers! I'm great at garden design, but really bad at indoor arrangements, and so I felt very pleased with myself for making this. Then my brother walked in and asked: "Are those fake flowers?" And then my husband, who should know better, asked the same thing. Grrr...

#WritingMemoir - Someone asked me the other day if a memoir is an autobiography. I said: "An autobiography is the story of your life. A memoir is a story from your life. You can write several memoirs, each one a story about a slice or layer of your life."

Eagerly awaiting an abundance of blooms in this one tiny patch of the front garden: day lilies, irises, allium, yarrow, etc, etc. White trillium on its way out after a tremendous showing throughout the spring garden. #gardening

The GrandToddler picked flowers for the 3 generations of mothers in our family yesterday. Noticing that her dad, granddad and great aunt had no flowers, she asked to go back to the garden to pick more. Such thoughtfulness at 3 years old.

Another pretty spot in the front garden, as the colours of deep pink bleeding hearts, pink tulips and yellow daffodils mix and mingle. #gardening

Our front garden in spring has such different colours from the back garden which abounds with blue and white.

It’s forget-me-not time in my garden. And how could I when the pretty patches of blue flowers have self-seeded all over the place?

A person can pretend it’s Spring - or even Summer. - when there’s Amaryllis blooming indoors. Just don’t look at the snow outside.

Sunset from a Jamaican hillside (can you tell the cold and snow in Ontario have me dreaming of our ancestral home in JA?).

Some birds will make a nest anywhere, even in a small flowering shrub. Picture from the garden of our family home in JA.

In my neck of the woods in Ontario, the sun is hiding, so I am offering a view from our Jamaican homestead to brighten up my spirits- and yours if you need it. Thanks to my JA relative for this photo.

#gardening - winter and spring are colluding to fool us in #frozenfebruary ! 3 mild days and our stream is huge and rushing, while birds are out in their multitudes. Nah - enjoying it but not buying it!
