In response to Read aBannedBook.
I read Jude the Obscure. Halfway through I got so angry I threw it across the room. After I cooled off, I picked it up and finished reading it. It’s a great book. It will wreck your emotions. You’ll be devastated. This is what art done well is.

I can't explain it but I had to read Jude the Obscure for college and I LOVED it!
I don't know why, but I enjoyed it as much as books I read for fun!
Meanwhile, Bleak House almost killed me. I finally decided after page 500 I was not allowing any new characters to be introduced and skipped ahead

My little down syndrome grandson (Liam) was taken to the hospital at 3 am this morning. He has been diagnosed with a cold and Covid. I’d give anything if it was me instead. 🥺☹️ If you pray, please do for my little guy.

So, I'm not kidding: Jordan Peterson is apparently upset that a paper towel brand is engaging in "wokeness" with their advertising.
I found this surprising because I was under the impression Peterson doesn't need paper towels. He seems pretty self-absorbed.

It reminds me mostly of my #BuyNothing group, where daily acts of generosity among diverse neighbors power a sense of community. I look at #DailyPictureTheme before I sign off at night, marveling at lovely images people share. I dance to #SpoutingClassics . These are places hosted by WM who get it.

I like "To Have and Have Not" better than "Casablanca". Howard Hawks is one of my favorite producers / directors and Hoagy Carmichael is good in any film.
Alberto Pastor @albertopastorClassic movie #40 : To have and have not (1944)
A film noir with WWII on the background, with drama, suspense, comedy, adventure and romance, and featuring a fantastic 20 year old Lauren Bacall 😍 on his debut, and the start of a love story with Bogart 🎭💘

I just want to take a second to thank all of you allies out there. I can't tell you how amazing it is to have your support & know we aren't alone. You all make it a little easier for people like me to get out of bed in the morning & not feel completely powerless. Thank you from the bottom of my 🩷

I just hope people making the transition can appreciate the difference between Spoutible's checkmarks and Twitter's!

MichaelSteele @MichaelSteeleHello folks! I'm Michael Steele, Fmr. Lt. Gov. of MD and Fmr. Chair of RNC. Over the years I've learned political parties are a bit like a rash: unsightly, irritating, and lacking in intellectual or ideological coherence. I've also learned We the People are the healing solution. Good to be here!09:51 PM - Mar 31, 2023

Had a brief chat with a fellow history geek about the nauseating trend of declaring that the Pyramids or other wonders were "built by aliens." Funny how no one claims the Antikythera mechanism or Roman aqueducts were alien technology. If you're spouting that bullshit, just admit you're racist.
