This is a photo of the bear that ate our bird feeders the other evening … bear #2 peered into our family room but I was too slow to get the photo. I suspect they were both a year old so not too large yet and, in truth, a bit dim.

Life in a northern town.

So…sweetie et moi are reading bed and our youngest son is emptying the dishwasher and cleaning the kitchen. He comes up stairs to report bears (plural) on our deck. The photo is bear #2 eating the bird feeder. I was too slow to photo bear #1 when he got on his hind legs and peered into the house.

So, in the early 1990s, a friend of mine, claiming to be a news photographer, got in backstage at a Genesis concert in Edmonton. Here's the picture he took of Phil Collins (in his prime). Also have an image of my friend with Genesis. backstage.

thread 3 Threaded Spouts
Here, Sweet Caps cigarettes sponsored a high wire walk before doing so again, but with a hot air balloon with "aeronauts" parachuting out. This was big stuff before WW I. The company installed an electric sign in downtown Montreal that, while advertising the cigarettes, provided the time and temp.

I'm doing research on the history of smoking in Canada and came across this ad (one of a series) in 1907 for "Sweet Violet" cigarettes. It strikes me as an odd image intending to sell cigarettes.

Bloody hell … every Christmas we get a couple of puzzles that are then worked on over the holidays. This puzzle was completed by our youngest son out of sheer determination because the rest of us were defeated.

FYI…It’s -2 Celsius here in northern BC and save for snow shovelled off the drive, there is no snow here. All we really have is a small pile of deer poo in the front yard. Seasons greetings to all, especially the decent folks.

Now, all you Americans, back to your turkey while I grade student essays.
