We had a heat pump in the late 80's that wasn't very efficient. I'm excited by the progress and hope to get a newer model sometime soon. I love that they are using this in low income housing, too!

I have such mixed feelings about this. I'm glad that Detroit and Michigan schools get extra funding, but I worry that the people paying that money can't afford it and might be addicts. I don't believe in legislating morality, and these are most likely adults, but I'm uncomfortable anyway

This looks like a terrific plan! I know the local people don't want high density housing near them, but it was interesting to see an article in the side column about the "soul crushing" price of houses in the area. Plus the plan will take 25 years, so there will be time to acclimate

I very much hope this opinion piece is not predictive. I too convinced my kids to have orthodontia knowing it was more about looks than health, and I struggle with some guilt. I hate that people might do that with these drugs.

Whether it's through state law or simply school policy I'm a big fan of allowing kids to take mental health days. There is a lot going on for kids, and they sometimes need a break to work through it or escape some of it.

This is so disappointing to me! I expect that given the makeup of the military a large number of black people go to the credit union for a loan. The data show that all things being equal (income, credit history) white applicants are given more loans than black people. Disgusting!
