thread 3 Threaded Spouts
I have been thinking today - International Women's Day - about all the women who have encouraged and supported me in my varied careers. I could not begin to mention each of them by name, because this post would be WAY too long and I know I would forget to add some names to the list.

Every year I listen through the Bible, this year in the MSG. 2023 was a hard year for me so I'm only at 1 Cor. What a word to the church today! We need to listen & then trust steadily, hope unswervingly, and love extravagantly (Ch 13).

Here's to 2024!

I long for the day when I turn on the evening news and see only good news stories.

People supporting others.

People succeeding and helping others succeed.

People being generous.

Swords being turned into ploughshares.

Children playing in safety.

Women living without fear.

Some day...

I have spent the last two days marking reflective journals on ethical frameworks for my 4th year Business Ethics course. If this is indicative of the next generation of businesspeople, I have great hope for the future of the marketplace.

Heading home tomorrow for my father’s funeral. It will be a difficult couple of days because he leaves a huge hole. He was an amazing man and fantastic father.

My father died on Sunday. He was the most amazing man who lived gratitude every moment of his life. His last words to Mom were “I love you” even though he could only whisper them.

He lived with no regrets.

Always tell others you love them. You might not have a second chance.

I love you, Dad.

Hospices are the most amazing places. The medical professionals who work in them are absolute heroes who safeguard the dignity of those who require end of life care but they also provide very much appreciated care for those of us who are learning to let go of our loved ones.

Thank you.

Any #MarCom , #marketing , and #advertising profs out there? What are you doing to incorporate AI LLMs like ChatGPT into your curriculum and assignments? I want to be sure our students are well prepared as they step into their careers.

Healthcare should never be for sale. I'm so sad right now. Doug Ford is busy fighting nurses in court just to decimate publicly-funded healthcare while paving way for more privatization. Make your voices heard by voting NO to privatization. Share widely 👇🏿

Another year is in the books (except for my year-end review with my Dean). Am now working on case studies and teaching notes started last summer - hope to submit to Ivey Publishing before I dive into prep for next year!

I love summer as an academic! Hard work but done on the back deck.

It's a hard Easter weekend for me. My 95 yo father has surgery on Thursday and to protect him before the surgery, I am Zooming into church. It's hard not to be with my church family, singing together as we remember Jesus' death and resurrection.

Would appreciate your prayers for my Dad.

It's Friday, but Sunday's coming.

Father, I'm waiting in that liminal space for Sunday.

It's that crazy end-of-term time where reports are coming in from all my courses. Yet as the virtual marking piles up (yes, I'm now having students submit reports using Google Docs instead of via paper), I am sitting looking out at the lake and finding it really hard to focus!

Give the world what you lacked.

Provide the encouragement no one gave you.

See the gifts in others,

people ignored in you.

We don’t have to multiply

the neglect we experience.

Today I spent time with my parents, married 73 years this spring. Teared up listening to them talk about their marriage. How they never went to bed angry at each other. How they would rather spend time together than apart. I am blessed to be their daughter and to witness their love for each other.
