Hey that could be a valuable 90 seconds.

If you could fallow that up with "and I'm learning French" I bet that buys you another 90 at least.

Homophone confusion, yes.
Even native speakers have difficulty with:
There, they're, there
Here, hear
heard, herd
its, it's

And then there is:

tough
though
thought
through
thorough

All of that counts.
I'm asking more about inherent issues with the language.

But the abuse of the language by it's speakers is also fair game.

Care to elaborate on that a bit?

How it's inconsistencies lead to tyranny and fraud?

Always made sense to me too!
but that's not the advice of a lot of 'traditional' language material.

When I was younger and I broke with this advice, I felt like I was doing something so radical. lol

Amazing how that happens. Something initially so "foreign" can become such an intimate, integral part of one's life.

Japanese in my case. In the same way.

I did Latin on my own. My style may have been unconventional. I'm not sure. But, yes. It helped me understand so much about grammar in general.

So a lot of experience with language learning, clearly.

I do love it when studying one or two language gives you a related language for "free", or at least a "discount".

Do you feel you improved at language learning with gained experience?

I feel that I have. Time is a challenge for sure

"Lang Justice-I represent minority languages/perspectives."

Omg. That's super interesting!
I'm very interested in this sort of thing.

Since I was really young I've been interested in other cultures and languages - and how they interacts. How barriers form and how those barriers can be bridged

I'm also trying to move away from that. It's been beneficial to have the "'language card" when job seeking. But it also means I've always worked with/for Japanese companies and clients in Japan-related industries (automotive)

I'm building my second career.

So what "org"?

I never looked into Finnish until this week!

I learned it has 15 cases!! So I wanted to see.
I don't know anything about it yet, really.

I see you have spent your life between Japan and America. I'm sure that gives you interesting perspective.

The 80s and 90s were a difficult time to learn languages, really.

There are so many new resources. But I feel people (especially younger) don't know how to use them, or how to sort through the garbage to find gold.

That's why I started doing this, actually.

I've studied many to various levels.
Some I just know the script, a few words, basic grammar

Some I can read easy to intermediate

My best is Japanese, followed by Spanish.

I have forgot a lot, or it *feels* like I've forgotten.
So, I understand.

I wasn't sure.

I encounter people who are language learners complaining about the lack of resources for African language. (I thought maybe that was your point)

There is a growing awareness. But it's far too little.
I keep a spreadsheet of resources on neglected languages.

Yes. That also happens. I'm not sure what language I was dream-speaking.

And I have wondered if I'm really using the language or I just *feel* like I'm using it in the dream.

But, I remember searching my mind for specific vocabulary words. It's interesting.

I'll be spouting constantly about these topics

Let's start with this...

What language are you learning?
Or what language do you plan to learn?

I can suggest resources.

Then I can give more specific (on both #1 & #5 )
